CAREERS NEWS

DRONE INDUSTRY WEBINAR

On Friday 13 August several interested students from Year 10 and 11 watched a 30 minute webinar about the fast growing industry of careers involving drones and information about Cert III in Aviation (Remote Pilot) with UAV Air.

The webinar included an Industry representative from Nebo Project Engineers and provided the opportunity for students to ask questions directly to the industry experts. They shared how industries are now using drones to practically enhance their business operations and showcase Drone Pilots as an in-demand skill of the future workforce.

CAREERS IN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION WEBINAR

WIDAC (Women in Design and Construction) hosted this webinar for students to explore future career pathways in design and construction.  Careers represented included: Landscape Architect, Engineer, Tunneling Manager, Building Developer, Access Consultant and Property Professional. The experts in their field went through a day in their working life, no day was ever the same in these dynamic professions.

YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE

All of Year 10 will undertake work experience during Term 4 Week 9, Monday 29 November - Friday 3 December. During extended PALS this week the students were encouraged to find three businesses they were interested in, getting the contact details and using the script for making phone calls.  The due date for the work experience paperwork is 8 November. It is the student’s responsibility to organise their own work experience placement, the skills they learn from this activity are very similar to looking for real employment. In the current climate it is important to start early as many businesses are unable to take work experience students this year. PALS teachers and Mrs Hill are available to assist with the process.
