NEWS FROM THE I.T DEPARTMENT
VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKS (VPN) ON LAPTOPS
It has come to our attention that a number of students have installed Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) on to their laptops. VPNs allow users to access content that would otherwise be blocked such as Netflix from the United States.
There are risks associated with the use of VPNs by children. As it is hard to assess the credibility and security of a free VPN, which a child is more likely to use, they may expose themselves to malware and fraud from those running the VPN. Students who use a VPN effectively have anonymous and unfiltered access to the Internet.
We respectfully request that you ensure that your child does not have a VPN installed on their laptop.
