NEWS FROM CREATIVE ARTS

YEAR 12 CREATIVE ARTS

Congratulations to our Year 12 HSC students on completion of their final exams. A component of the Year 12 Creative Arts Syllabus is to submit a 'Body of Work (BOW)' for assessment by external examiners. The quality of work produced by our students was of an incredibly high standard and may be seen by clicking here.

A special mention to the following students, with their artwork selected as one of the very best to be displayed in Art Exhibitions next year!

STAGE 5 CREATIVE ARTS

Year 9 students have been working on a Mini body of work, which was a personal inquiry based on their chosen medium and concept. The students explored various media choices and enjoyed showing their unique skills, such as digital art, photography, painting, drawing and sculpture. Other mediums explored involved cutting stencils and spray painting, as well as collage and painting.

Year 10 students this term explored the theme of “Future Humans” and were challenged to make a wearable artwork from recycled materials and then curate a photo shoot. They are now investigating their own project and have been relishing the chance to self direct their own work.

MUSIC

Thank you to all music students who performed in the recent Showcase Assembly. In addition to this, the music teachers would like to say a big thank you to all students who performed in assemblies, liturgies and masses throughout the year. It is truly such an amazing thing to be able to share your gift with others.

Year 7 and 8 music students have been learning about the concepts of music this semester within the context of Orchestral music and Australian music in Year 7 and Blues, Rock music and Music for Film, Television and Video games for Year 8.
Year 8 are currently in the middle of composing their own jingle for a product/service and many are sounding extremely catchy and fun! As we near Christmas, students are beginning to learn some carols on their instruments.

Year 9 students have been learning about Rock music with Year 10 exploring Jazz. Students have been developing their aural skills and have been making consistent learning gains. It was also amazing to be able to see many Year 9 and 10 students perform at the recent showcase assembly!

Year 11 music students are now our Year 12 students! All students have just completed 'Common Task 1' which saw these budding musicians compose a piece of music to fit the topic of study 'An Instrument and Its Repertoire'.
Well done to all students for challenging yourselves in this task! We are very excited to share these with the wider community in the near future.
We encourage our Stage 6 students to take part in the extra curricular music groups and activities on offer next year to better their skills and to share their talents with the school community.

We hope that your summer holidays are filled with lots of joy and song and that 2022 will be the biggest and best year for music!
