REPRESENTATIVE SPORT

Cross Country Wilandra

On Monday 6 May, a number of students competed at the Diocesan Cross Country Carnival. The St John’s team included some outstanding runners on the day, with a number of students progressing to the next level. Congratulations to the following students who placed in the top 6 in their age group, and will go on to represent Wollongong at the CCC Cross Country Championships:Taiha Marsh Dawson, Bridget Fairs, Lily Tomlinson, Baylee Holland, Freya Robinson Mills, Matthew Page, Cooper Barrett, Lawson Moore, Seamus Healy and Lucian D'Hudson. A special mention to Lily Tomlinson who placed 1st and Baylee Holland who placed 2nd in the 16 years girls, along with Seamus Healey who came 2nd in the 18 years boys. Good luck to the above students at the next level. They will compete at Eastern Creek in June.

Primary School Diocesan Cross Country

A number of students volunteered to assist at the primary school Diocesan cross county carnival. They did a wonderful job and the following feedback was received from the organiser, John Sparks from the Catholic Education Office
"The students were outstanding, showed initiative and were willing to take on any tasks. We really valued their support. A number of teachers and adults there on the day commented on their contributions and good nature".
The students were: Imogen Jackson, Niamh Murphy, Brooke Walsh, Elise Irvine, Ben Johnson, Samuel Maher, Zoe Anderson, Heidi Gattringer, Baylee Holland and Eva Lilly

Football (Soccer)

We have had a busy start to Term for representative sport. Thursday and Friday of Week 1 saw our boys and girls Football (Soccer) sides compete at the Diocesan Gala Days. Well done to all students who were involved in these teams. Thank you to Mr Chard, Mr Holden, Mr Vaughan, Mr Coulson-Knight, Mrs Prayetno and Mr Watson for coaching and preparing these teams for their matches. Thank you also goes to the student helpers on the day, who have assisted as photographers, referees and linesman, along with the students who assisted Mr Garner with the girls Gala Day held here at Ison Park.

St John’s are proud to have a number of our senior students selected in the Open Boys and Girls Wollongong Diocesan Football teams: Zoe Anderson, Taniesha Angelkovski, Lachlan Bryce, Olivia Delahenty, Rocky Lavalle, Casey Johnson and Jasmine Tan.

Athletics Carnival - Event Reminder

The annual school Athletics Carnival is being held in Week 5 of this Term, Friday 31 May at Shoalhaven High. Students will come to school as normal on the morning of the day and walk to the venue in their House groups.They will be expected to be in sports uniform and will be strongly encouraged to participate in events.

Parent helpers needed: If you are able to assist at this event as a parent helper, please contact the office on 4423 1666 and leave your details.

With many of our major Gala Days now finished, we still have plenty of events coming up in Term 2 and 3 for representative sport. A reminder to students to be listening to morning notices and checking the rep sport google classroom page for new updates and information. Below is a summary of events to come. 3 June: NSWCCC Tennis Championships- Bathurst (notes & payment due Monday, 27 May)

Week Seven:

11 June: South Coast Schools Surfing Competition (notes & payment due Friday, 24 May)

12 June: SOCCER - Wollongong Diocesan Knockout - selected teams based on Gala Day placings

14 June - NSWCCC Cross Country
