YEAR 9 NEWS
On Wednesday 4 May 2022, the Year 9 cohort, Year 10 helpers and several brave teachers and parents ventured out to Bangalee Scout Camp for Year 9 Camp.
This was the first time many of our students had not only slept in a tent, but spent multiple days away from their families. The positive attitude and energy the students were able to maintain the entire camp was extremely impressive.

Thanks for a great few days, Year 9. The growth I witnessed within our group socially as a group is invaluable. These opportunities are few and far between and you made the most of it. It is the most proud I have been as a Year Coordinator so far.

Over three days, the students participated in amazing activities that pushed them mentally, physically and emotionally. The students abseiled, bushwalked, canoed, created an artwork on our nature canvas, played games in Social Survivor and ate some unique food at Yarn 'n’ Cook.

With assistance from our incredible staff, our Year 10 helpers ran the activities and learnt what it is like to step into the shoes of a teacher. Every year these students display professionalism and maturity beyond their years, this group of students was no exception. You should be extremely proud of the efforts you put in.

A special thanks goes out to the dedicated parent volunteers that helped cook and serve food and pick up/drop off the students equipment and bags. These types of events are not possible without your help.

The last thank you is for the staff. These teachers volunteered their time to stay overnight, supervise the students, serve food, leave lessons back at school etc. This is a monumental effort that deserves recognition.
YEAR 9 YAM PROGRAM

YAM is a program aimed at addressing the mental health needs of young people and involves discussion and role play. The program aims to get young people involved and talking about mental health. By doing this young people will learn problem solving skills and gain knowledge about mental health.
Further details of the YAM program and dates for delivery at St John's are noted in the attached flyer. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
