The unsafe track due to heavy rainfall impacted the ability to run this year's Wollongong Diocese Cross Country event at Willandra as planned. In place of this event, competitive athletes in the Wollongong Diocese were invited to attend a NSW CCC trial at Narellan on Monday 23 May.

St John's was represented by eight outstanding athletes, who did us proud, all placing in the top 8 of their event!  6 of our athletes also placed in the top 6, earning selection to compete at the NSW CCC Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek on Tuesday 7 June. Congratulations to our amazing athletes!

ATHLETICS NOMINATIONS 2022

As you are aware, we have had to postpone the St John’s Athletic Carnival that was scheduled to take place on Friday 13 May 2022.

Unfortunately, due to the continuous poor weather and numerous ground closures, we have been unable to secure an appropriate athletics ground and date for a Term Two Athletics Carnival. 

As such, the proposed time of the St John the Evangelist Athletics Carnival will be in Term 3. Please note, a final decision and date will be identified that takes into consideration the Year 12 HSC Trial Examination timetables and will be to celebrate school culture. 

This new date has clear implications for the pathway of nomination to representing Wollongong at NSWCCC as CEDoW requires nominations for those wishing to compete at the Diocesan carnival to be in by Week 9 Term 2.

In speaking with CEDoW, this year, nominations will be completed by students via the Google Form link below by Wednesday 15 June. Please note, students should only complete the form if they wish to compete at the Diocesan Carnival in Term 3, Week 2 (Friday 29 July), be considered for NSWCCC representation and have appropriate evidence to support their nomination. 

Evidence will need to come in the form of registered times via an approved Athletics Body or Coach.
