TIME FOR REFLECTION & RENEWAL OF OUR FAITH & SPIRITUALITY

As a Catholic school we base our values on the Gospels of Jesus and strive to live lives that align with the teachings of Jesus. As in all communities it is the conversations that strengthen our culture. Here at St John’s we regularly engage in conversations and reflection to renew our spirit and provide opportunity to consider our intentions and actions.

One way that we do this is at each assembly a gospel reading is selected and read. A personal reflection is then shared by a staff or student after they have considered what the message is telling them. This has provided for our school community some very powerful and relevant perspectives.

The Gospel from last Sunday was Gospel: Lk 19:1-10 talks of Zacchaeus striving to see Jesus. As I reflect on the actions of Zacchaeus I am reminded of the importance of taking time and putting in the effort to step away from the crown and “see” what Jesus is telling me, to hear this voice in my life.

A DYNAMIC COMMUNITY

Our school is well grounded in its vision and mission. What is so special about a school community is its dynamic nature, enabling the landscape to be constantly changing with new and fresh ideas.

This week our Year 12 students are finishing their HSC and will be leaving St John’s a better place for how they have lived out their passions. We are always welcoming a new Year 7 cohort for 2023 on our orientation day. These young people will also make a difference and we are very excited for how they will live out their goals and passions.

We wish both groups of young people the best for the years ahead and look forward to watching their journeys for the years ahead.

PARENTS, CARERS & RELATIVES THANK YOU

We are very blessed at St John’s to have so many  parents and carers prepared to give their time to support us. So many respond to calls for support with canteen, working bees, carnivals and other events and for this we are truly grateful.

For our young people it is a special gift to see their parents engaging with the school and sharing the place where they learn.

We held a small afternoon tea and it was lovely to see so many attend, however I would also like to extend our thanks to those who were not able to attend: we truly appreciate your engagement.
