PARENT ENGAGEMENT
For those lucky enough to be able to attend the Working Bee you were part of a special afternoon of working together to enhance our school environment. As someone said to me:
“It has a special feel out there in the school grounds during a Working Bee.”
This is because of the people who were present. They brought with them a positive spirit and a passion to make the school a better place.

The Working Bees are organised by the Parents and Friends Association. They are a group of parents and carers who know the value of creating and supporting a community.
We are super blessed here at St John’s to have these people and I thought it fitting that you should hear in their words why they do what they do. I have attached a brief video made by members of the Parents and Friends Association executive team.
As you watch the film you will recognise the conversation as similar to the discussion that we have with our young people around the value of engaging in their community, especially through volunteering.
We welcome any support that parents, carers, grandparents and students can contribute to our school community especially in assisting in the canteen, Working Bees and at carnivals.
YEAR 7, 2023 ORIENTATION
How wonderful it was to meet the students who will be joining us as Year 7 students in 2023 on our Orientation Day last week. They were a very interesting and diverse group of students who engaged with the activities of the day with a great sense of vibrancy, fun and respect.

They were welcomed and supported for the day by the Year 9 peers supporting students. These students had trained for a full day and then volunteered to be a leader for this day. These same students will also work with the new Year 7 students when the new year begins.
