VINNIES CHRISTMAS APPEAL - WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Many local families are doing it tough this year so we wish to assist with our annual Christmas Hamper Appeal.

We have 52 baskets kindly supplied by Ison’s Hardware Shoalhaven, ready to fill with Christmas treats.

Each PALS class and staff group have also been assigned a family to supply with Christmas gifts. Click here to view the families to purchase for.
We appreciate all donations for this worthy cause!

ZIGGY'S NEW KENNEL

With the help of staff, our students have constructed a fabulous new kennel for Ziggy, our well-being dog.
Our farm animals have been curious checking out their new neighbour!

 

YEAR 7 MUSIC

Ms Baker's Year 7 Music5 classhave been learning to perform Believer by Imagine Dragons in an ensemble. Students have been referring to the learning disposition of “challenge” by showcasing resilience throughout this task and helping each other achieve their shared learning goal. They are rocking it!

MINDFULNESS ACTIVITIES

Mrs Auert has been sharing her passion and skills in knitting and crocheting, teaching students how to make beautiful woollen scarves. Matilda enjoyed her first lesson this week, impressing us with how quickly she learnt to knit!

 

YEAR 9 BUSHCRAFT - CANOEING

Our Year 9 Bushcraft classes have been enjoying their recent practical lessons canoeing on the Shoalhaven River!

YEAR 9 & 10 COMMERCE

Year 9 & 10 Commerce students are currently studying Law, Society and Political Involvement. ON  Wednesday, students had the privilege of listening to Mrs Liz Turley who was a journalist at the South Coast Register at the time of Azaria Chamberlain's court case. Mrs Turley interviewed Lindy Chamberlain's parents and was able to bring a new and fresh perspective on this case.

Students were highly engaged and eager to ask about the extent of the media's influence on the case, and the effectiveness of the justice system. Thanks so much Mrs Turley! You were an amazing presenter.

YEAR 10 PASS - WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL

Last Wednesday our three Year 10 PASS classes attended workshops by Wheelchair Sports Australia.
Students were provided the opportunity to view a presentation and play Wheelchair Basketball, to experience something new and promote understanding of the challenges for people using wheelchairs.

YEAR 10 YOUTH ADVISORY REPRESENTATIVES

Year 10 students Sophie Weller, Georgia Coleman, Serena McDonald & Cameron Nelson attended Shoalhaven City Council’s final Youth Advisory Meeting for 2022.
Georgia was nominated to chair the meeting.
There were presentations from the NSW Government Regional Youth Insight Team & the Regional Youth Investment Program as well as the Youth Advisory Committee Leadership Day Team.
The Committee participated in surveys for the NSW Government on climate change and sustainability.
The Committee also discussed priorities for 2023. The top 5 recommendations from Youth were Mental Health, Education & Training, Wellbeing, Belonging & Connection & Improved Education.

 

YEAR 10 HISTORY - JEWISH MUSEUM

Recently our Year 10 History students attended the Sydney Jewish Museum.

2 X NSW STATE MEDALLISTS 

The NSW State Mountain Bike Championships were held on the weekend with 3 of our students achieving outstanding results including bronze medals to Joshua Ludman (Year 12) and Hugh Vaughan (Year 10).

REMEMBRANCE DAY - 11 NOVEMBER

Our school acknowledged Remembrance Day on Friday 11 November, pausing for a minute silence at 11am to pay tribute to the generosity & courage of those who have served and those who lost their life whilst serving for our country.
Year 11 students Dylan Johnstone & Robert McLean also beautifully represented our school at the Sussex Inlet Remembrance Day Service.
