VINNIES CHRISTMAS APPEAL - WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Many local families are doing it tough this year so we wish to assist with our annual Christmas Hamper Appeal.

We have 52 baskets kindly supplied by Ison’s Hardware Shoalhaven, ready to fill with Christmas treats.

Each PALS class and staff group have also been assigned a family to supply with Christmas gifts. Click here to view the families to purchase for.

YEAR 10 SPORT

Many of our Year 10 students enjoyed their sport of Indoor Rock Climbing on Friday!

YEAR 10 CHILD STUDIES

Year 10 Child Studies continue to attend their local child care centre visits therefore last week was their final lesson as a whole class together.
As part of the Children and Culture unit this term, students learnt about the Japanese Koinobori (or wind sock). 
Year 10 have worked so hard over the last 2 years in Child Studies and have been amazing!

DENZEL -BEACH CHAMPION!

Congratulations to Denzel Atkinson of Year 9 , achieving outstanding results in the recent Sydnet Water Surf Series, taking out first place in the Under 17 beach event pointscore, run over 4 weeks of competition.

AWESOME VIRTUAL REALITY LESSON

This week our Year 9 STEM students used our Oculus Virtual Reality Headsets to participate in their first virtual reality lesson, playing ‘Beat Saner’ and ‘Jurassic World’ where they walked among dinosaurs.

Our I.T experts mirrored the vision of one headset to the classroom screen to enable the class to follow along.
In future, we hope students will use the VR systems to build models of objects in virtual worlds.

 

DANCING FOR THE ELDERLY 

Our Year 9 dance class were invited to perform at IRT Greenwell Gardens Retirement Home in Nowra last Tuesday.
What an awesome experience brightening everyone’s day at the Nursing home.
Well done Year 9!

 

YEAR 9 DANCE

Year 9 Dance students have been exploring site-specific dance and technology.
Yesterday they travelled to Kiama to workshop and film their group works - We look forward to seeing the results!

 

ANOTHER DRAGON SELECTION!

Congratulations to Year 10 student Joseph Bailey, selected in the train on squad for the Illawarra South Coast Dragons to play in the Andrew John's Cup next year!

YEAR 11 ADVANCED ENGLISH

Our Year 12 2023 Advanced English have been using our whiteboard tables to work collaboratively on their common module Shakespeare's 'The Merchant of Venice'.

We encourage our students to challenge themselves, become involved in many activities, share their talents and help others.
We are incredibly proud to see many achieving this including Year 11 students Summer, Kane, Kate, Ella & Cameron who mentor other students in their area of interest and excellence!

CAPTAIN ON TRACK TO INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS IN 2 SPORTS!

Our 2022 School Captain Mel Staunton has been a fantastic leader of our school, whilst completing her studies and managing her training as one of the best athletes in Australia in both AFL and Surfing.
Mel is on track to represent at the Olympics in surfing whilst also playing professional AFL.
An incredible achievement by a remarkable young lady! Good luck Mel! We look forward to following your journey!

KEIRA CONTINUES TO SHINE IN THE SURF

Keira Buckpitt of Year 11, has been continuing her brilliance in the surf, featuring in the South Coast Register twice this fortnight.

Keira has been excelling at the Australian Surfing Championships in Queensland.  Despite several top seeds knocked out in the challenging conditions, Keira rose to the challenge as the standout under 18 women's competitor dropping a 9.00 opening ride in heat three to finish with a 15.00 two-wave score to qualify for the quarter finals.

On Friday 25 November our Vinnies Youth  Group  held a thrift store sale.

HSC ARTWORK EXCELLENCE -

AN INCREDIBLE 6 STUDENTS SELECTED FOR EXHIBITION!

A massive SIX of our Year 12 Visual Art students’ Body of Works have been selected for the Shellharbour Gallery ‘New Horizons’ annual Exhibition showcasing the best HSC artwork from across the Shoalhaven.

DIDGERIDOO IN A DAY

Last Friday we held our Didgeridoo in a Day Workshop where students were able to make their own Didgeridoo.
The boys were incredible, focusing on the task and producing amazing results!

YEAR 11 HOSPITALITY

Our Year 11 Hospitality students completed their first practical based assessment yesterday, impressing their teacher, Mrs Chittick, describing the group as producing 'The best end product she has seen from a group in a long time'.
Students worked in pairs to complete the challenge of preparing the following dishes within 100hours;
