NEWS FROM CREATIVE & PERFORMING ARTS

It has been a very busy term for the CAPA faculty. This term saw the return of EAT Theatre after a Covid enforced break for 3 years. The Year 10 Drama students did an amazing job in all aspects of the production including designing costumes, make-up, set, props, sound and lighting.

The diverse range of skills developed by the students across the term was clearly evident in the quality of the production that ran for three nights in Week 8. The cast were incredible in their portrayal of the characters and the story. They were both convincing and dynamic as they brought to life a story of hope set in a future Dystopian World where individuals struggling to survive realised that the only way they could was to unite and work together.

We also saw the return of the annual Junior CAPA evening last week and the CAPA Showcase Assembly. The assembly saw a diverse range of high quality performances and slide shows of student works. At the CAPA evening the students performed over 25 different acts in Music, Drama and Dance and were simply outstanding. The night also featured an excellent Visual Arts and Photography exhibition which included literally hundreds of works. It took many hours of rehearsal and preparation by both students and staff to enable the night to run. There were two full days of set up for the exhibition, sound and staging required for the night by the CAPA staff. I offer my sincere gratitude and admiration for all of the CAPA staff and their dedication and commitment to ensure that the students had this wonderful opportunity to share their work with family and friends.
