PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Enrolment time for Year 7, 2020
We are currently undertaking the enrolment process at St John’s. Each year we welcome another group of students and their families to join our school community and they bring to us their talents and stories.
The students who join us as a Year 7 cohort come from over 27 schools to become one new group of young people sharing their high school journey together. They quickly become one cohesive group as they are supported to get to know each other and develop new friendships.
St John’s is an exceptional learning environment that clearly lives the vision of a community based on catholic values that delivers excellence in a peaceful environment. I know that I can take any visitor around our school at any time and they will witness students learning and supporting each other. We are currently conducting enrolment interviews and most comment on the quality of the students who currently attend. They name their friendly manner, their respectfulness and community involvement as evidence of what wonderful young people that they are. They also identify St John’s as having high standards around everything we do from learning, use of technology (including mobile phones) and personal presentation. If you know someone who is intending to enrol their child please remind them to complete their enrolment form immediately as the process is well underway.

Staff Development Day
On Monday staff worked collegially to develop their skills in providing feedback to their students. Learning is a growth journey and feedback is the tool they use to grow their skills. The school has been on a journey of ‘Visible Learning’ that has seen us develop an Aspiration statement for our school and Learning dispositions that will help them achieve this aspiration. These underpin our learning process and will be a part of the language and teaching practice around learning at St John’s.

Working Bee
It was wonderful to see so many families join us for the working bee. We have the most wonderfully connected community and people are so willing to support the school in these events. We also had a fun time and did some fantastic work improving the school gardens and environment. The day concluded with a BBQ and lots of friendly chatter.
Thanks to our Parent and Friends committee and to the many students, staff and families who attended, provided morning tea or made a donation:
