YEAR 7 NEWS
Term 2 for year 7 has hit the ground running with a variety of activities.
Week 2 saw Year 7 students undertaking their very first Reflection Morning.
The theme for the morning was solidarity and year 7 explored how they can work together and make the world a better place. They partook in three different activity rotations each with a differentiating focus on the theme.
Students experienced an Aboriginal ritual where they touched the Earth, washed their hands in Water and walked through a Smoking Ceremony prior to participating in a Liturgy focussing on Earth, Water and Fire from Catholic and Aboriginal perspectives. Students also completed a "Let your light shine" creative arts activity. In this activity, students were asked to reflect on their gifts and talents, how they can help bring love to others. From there they made a paper lantern to symbolise the shining of their gifts and to connect back to our year group motto.
Lastly, students were also taught our School song "Pax Christi" in preparation for our Foundation Day celebrations and to create a further connection to our school community. I and the other teachers involved were so impressed with the way that our year 7’s engaged with the activities with reverence and excellent behaviour.
A big thank you to all involved in the creation, organisation and running of the activities.

All year 7 students are getting ready for their very first Foundation Day on Friday 26th May with each PALS group preparing a stall for the fair. There was lots of lively discussion about what stalls they would like to run and I am looking forward to visiting the stalls and taking part in all the fun!
It has been wonderful welcoming back our year 7 students and we wish Ms Jennings all the best as she starts her maternity leave.
