YEAR 9 NEWS
Year 9 have started the term with positive attitudes and from all accounts are making every effort to work to the best of their ability in the classroom. Students are working with their PALS teachers to reflect on their recent reports and to create a simple goal around a subject that they may need to spend some more time on getting some things right. This is a short term goal that will be recorded by the PALS teacher and followed up regarding progress over a couple of weeks.
SPORT
Year 9 are to be congratulated for their active involvement in school sport so far this term. The students have been involved in a variety of activities offsite and school based competitions onsite. This is a relaxing and fun time for the year group.
REMINDER
Hair - Just a reminder that hair should be managed in relation to the policy as stated in the diary and as reinforced daily at school for each and every student. Boys should have no extreme hairstyles, including Mullets and carved hairstyles. The length must be kept to the length of the collar. Girls hair should be tied back at all times including when first arriving at school and in the afternoon when catching buses home.
Social competitions - These are designed to give Year 9 further opportunity to interact with each other in a social way at school during lunchtime. A sports competition and another round of the UNO competition will be offered to the year group to participate in this term.
Attendance - Just a note to inform parents that attendance is of paramount importance for students at school and that data indicates that those who attend school regularly achieve highly and are much more likely to build strong and positive social connections. To support this and for your information, PALS teachers are asked to call home if your son/daughter is away from school for 3 consecutive days as a way of offering support and to assist in managing any issues.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your son and daughter moving through Year 9 this term, please do not hesitate to contact their PALS teacher and/or Year Coordinator.
Kind Regards
Year 9 Coordinator
