YEAR 9 BUSHCRAFT - ROGAINE
On Thursday 27 July the year 9 Bushcraft students competed in a Rogaine. The teams of 4-6 students used their navigation skills they have been learning to find orienteering markers spread throughout the bush. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, without whom the day would not have been possible.
AGRICULTURE - COWS CREATE CAREERS PROJECT
St John's received two visitors to the agriculture farm on Tuesday 1 August which have been kindly loaned to the school by RH Boyd & Son Dairy Farm.
Through the Cows Create Careers project, students will learn about dairy industry careers in a very hands-on way: for three weeks they will rear and care for two three-week old calves.
Schools in the South Coast region will participate in the project during term three of 2023. A local dairy farmer will teach the students how to care for the calves and demonstrate skills such as animal husbandry, feeding and weighing. An Industry Advocate will also visit the students to speak about their career in the dairy industry.
