SIKORSKY AUSTRALIA'S PAPER PLANE COMPETITION
Last week 4 teams from St Johns joined schools across the South Coast for the Sikorsky Australia’s Paper Plane competition. Students spoke to industry and training organisations in the field of aeronautics and engineering. A big thank you to Sikorsky Australia for being the major sponsor. St Johns were extremely successful on the day with one 1st place (Senior Time in Air), two 2nd places (Senior Distance and Time in Air) and two 3rd places (Senior Time in Air and Junior Time in Air). Well done to all representatives, the engagement and effort demonstrated by our students was commendable.
YEAR 10 MARINE STUDIES
On Wednesday 16 August Year 10 Marine Studies students participated in a practical lesson in which they dissected mullet to learn about their anatomy.
YEAR 12 CONSTRUCTION
Last Thursday 17 August Year 12 Construction students took part in a bricklaying course to develop their bricklaying awareness and practical proficiency, by engaging in a variety of Practical Exercise and Assessment Tasks associated with two course competencies:
- Use bricklaying and blocklaying tools and equipment
- Handle and prepare bricklaying and blocklaying materials
BEE KEEPER VISIT - CHRIS THOMAS FROM 'BEELONGING'
On Wednesday 9 August, we had a much-anticipated visit from local bee-man Chris Thomas. Students and teachers were treated to an informative talk about our native bees 'Tetragonula carbonaria' that have taken up residence at our agriculture farm. A big thank you to Chris from 'Beelonging'.
