YEAR 9 NEWS

Vaughan_Simon_1_.jpg

Year 9 have been involved in a number of excursions of late and these have included Religious Education and Geography excursions. As stated to the year group on Monday’s year assembly their behaviour off site has been exemplary in every respect and they should be proud of how they conducted themselves travelling to and from the venues and their positive behaviours once at their destinations. Well done Year 9!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION EXCURSIONS

A reflection of the day out follows from Indiana Hayburn:

“On Tuesday of week 7, we went out to Greenfields beach for a reflection day. When we arrived we grouped up into our classes and went through a rotation of 3 different activities. My first activity was with Mr Lopez and we listened to a prayer and set goals to be more eco-friendly to our beaches. Next was a beach walk with Miss Brady and Mr Gray, we were given sheets and got to sit in a spot and take a moment to reconnect with nature. I found it very relaxing as we were instructed to do different techniques to reopen our connection in different ways. Lastly my group went on a walk through the bush with Uncle Archie and Mr Vaughan, we got to learn about some of the ways the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people used the land in the past. We also used this time to take in the scenery around us. Overall the day taught me how important it is for us to take the time out of school to consider the role our community makes on our environment.”

GEOGRAPHY EXCURSION

Geography students of Year 9 went on an excursion to Minnamurra to learn about fieldwork and the rainforest biome. Students undertook a range of fun activities from testing the turbidity of water to learning about how rainforests are protected.

These skills equip students to be lifelong learners and protectors of the wonderful environments of the Shoalhaven.

Students represented the school beautifully and had a great time.
