YEAR 10 MARINE STUDIES - SHOALHAVEN HEADS RIVERBANK AND SAND DUNE RESTORATION EXCURSION
On Thursday 21 September, St John's Year 10 Marine Studies students travelled to Shoalhaven Heads to learn about riverbank and sand dune restoration. Students were given talks from volunteers from Shoalhaven Riverwatch and Shoalhaven Heads landcare, as well as a talk from Aboriginal Elder Jason Groves about coastal erosion and native bushland regeneration.




NSW JUNIOR CHESS LEAGUE - ST JOHN'S V'S TRINITY
The St John's Chess team competed in round six of the NSW Junior Chess League held at our school on Monday 18 September against Trinity Catholic School from Goulburn. Both teams were even after 6 games which forced a final must win match. After a hard fought game unfortunately St John's went down giving Trinity the win for the round. The boys are to be commended on the way they conducted themselves in their games and should be proud of themselves.
YEAR 10 & 11 - DISCOVERING ENGINEERING WORKSHOP
Last Tuesday, 19 September Year 10 and 11 students that have selected Extension/Advanced Mathematics and/or Physics for their senior studies were involved in workshops with professional engineers from the Royal Aeronautical Engineering Society and Australian Centre for Field Robotics to solve two engineering scenarios. The students engaged their Mathematical and Science knowledge and skills to experiment, create and innovate their designs. Everyone is to be commended on the way they worked together with their peers and also the professionals throughout workshops.
