ST JOHN'S STUDENTS EXCEL!

CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS

Whilst success demonstrated at school is often acknowledged, there are many students earning wonderful achievements in various activities, sports and performing arts outside of school.

We love to hear about all student achievements and ask that details be sent to our school so we can celebrate hard work and success!

Please forward to sjenewsletter@dow.catholic.edu.au.

SHOALHAVEN EISTEDDFOD SUCCESS

Recently St. John's were well represented at the Annual Shoalhaven Eisteddfod, achieving great results in the dance and music ensembles. We have been informed of the following success by Olivia and Tom Hodgkins, entered in the speech and drama sections.

Tom received two first places in the bible passage reading and impromptu reading sections, and joined sister Olivia to win the telephone conversation (an impromptu conversation with a prompt).

Olivia also placed second in the verse speaking and first in prose reading and public speaking. With the competition requiring speakers to prepare and deliver a speech on the topic ‘Where to From Here?'.

Olivia's outstanding performances were further recognised in receiving the Nowra Players Theatre senior drama award - for the most promising performer in Speech and Drama.

Congratulations to Olivia, Tom and our wonderful St John's performers!

YEAR 8 STUDENT SIENNA CLARKE LEADS THE OPENS

Year 8 student Sienna Clarke has been proving herself on the Golf Course recently.

As the only Junior in two recent competitions, Sienna wasn't deterred, by her older rivals, winning the St Georges Basin Club Championships by 15 shots as well as defending her title at the Vincentia Ladies Championships to win by 45. This is a remarkable result! Congratulations Sienna!

LOIS STEERS HER HORSE TO SUCCESS IN SYDNEY

Year 8 student Lois Fleming has been busy travelling to compete in her beloved sport of equestrian, recently achieving some fabulous results in the Sydney Jump Club Championships, placing first on horse Zima in the 55cm, as well as second and fourth place on Henry in the 75cm and 85-95cm events. Congratulations on these fantastic results, Lois!
