CHEMISTRY EXCURSION - ANSTO

Garner_Nick.jpg
Year 11 Chemsitry students travelled to ANSTO (Australias Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation). This facility at Lucas Heights in Sydney has Australia's only Nuclear Reactor. The reactor is used for three purposes.
  1. For research. Neutrons are produced in the reactor and are used for research such as seeing through rocks to study fossils.
  2. For medicine. Radioactive material is used to both treat patients and diagnose patients
  3. To create semiconductors for electronics.

BIOLOGY EXCURSION - MT KEIRA

It was a frosty summer morning on the 26th of February, a bus full of beaming young men and women couldn't contain their excitement for the events that were about to unfold. Brains ready to intake wisdom like never conceived before, the jubilant chatter of the young biologists only slightly represented the excitement I felt within my tummy. I'd personally taken extensive research on the curiously unique mountain known to the locals as 'Mt Keira'. Before beginning my scientific endeavours I made sure I filled my grumbling stomach full of Mr Rees' signature chicken wrap (and a side of crisps). We then broke off into two seperate groups where each partook in several exhilarating scientific tests, each furthering my already sensational personal Biological Skills. All and all my peers and I had a jolly good time, and would highly recommend the subject for any highly skilled scientists such as myself.

MUSIC EXCURSION - 'ENCORE'

The Sydney Opera House hosted the 2024 Encore, which is the greatest performance of the year's HSE, on March 4th, 2022, for music classes 11 and 12. The bus ride there was lengthy but, as usual, fascinating and noisy. We went to have lunch from various places when we got there, and at 1:30 we walked inside the Opera House. We were entertained for three and a half hours by a range of outstanding performances. All in all, everyone had a great time on the day, and we at year 11 would want to express our gratitude to all the instructors who gave us this opportunity.
