NEWS FROM DIVERSE LEARNING

JUNIOR MC

We have a very busy term in the Junior MC. We have had a great time exploring different authors and books for “It's all in the bag” English task with a very excited Will Flannery receiving our class prize for his exploration of the book The Lorax. All students did a great job on this task and worked very hard. In history this Term we have been exploring the Ancient Society of Aztecs, the students have been enjoying learning about this fascinating culture, in particular the religious traditions and rituals. The topic was concluded with a great Mexican inspired feast which we shared with the Senior MC as a farewell to our Yr 12 students. It was a wonderful celebration and nice time shared together.

SENIOR MC

The Senior MC class has had a bustling and exciting term!

They worked together to create an entry for the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival, a project that was both fun and rewarding. You can view their submission at Focus on Ability searching the school entrant category and look for “Kitchen Capers”

Part of the film included students preparing nachos and selling their product to the student body which was an impressive feat that students carried out very professionally.

In celebration of the Senior MC’s largest Year 12 cohort, the class threw a spectacular party. The students enjoyed a delicious spread, with food prepared in their Food Technology class, followed by music and dancing. A special highlight was Annabelle Woelk, who took the initiative to write and deliver a heartfelt speech honoring the Year 12 students.

To cap off the term, the class participated in the Netball NSW All Abilities Day at the Illawarra Sports Stadium. Students engaged in skills activities before competing in friendly matches against other schools. It was a fantastic day, with St. John’s coming out on top, winning the majority of their games and earning the title of the loudest cheer squad on the sidelines!
