      UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS

As Term 3 draws to a close, it is timely to remind all students and families of the school’s uniform expectations. Please ensure all haircuts and piercings obtained over the holiday period are in line with our uniform policy. Please note that facial piercings are not allowable at St Johns. It is important that our students strive to get the little things right and in doing so they build resilience to tackle the bigger things. It is these small decisions that ensure their relationships remain positive and that they proudly represent St John’s in the wider community. We ask again that all students return in Term 4 proudly achieving all of the uniform expectations of our school.

      STUDENT INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE

Across the school we are hearing of more incidents involving language with racist or sexist connotations. In some cases this language is used without malicious intent and reflects the language students sometimes hear on YouTube, Tik Tok and other platforms. However, in ALL cases, racist and sexist language is NOT acceptable at St Johns nor is it acceptable in society as a whole. It is a message that we deliver loud and clear to our students in the classroom, in pastoral lessons and in learning conversations. Our expectation is that the language our students use upholds the dignity of everyone. Students who use racist or sexist language will be held accountable accordingly and communication will be made with their parents or carers. Having open and ongoing conversations at home as well as at school about respect is important. Here is a resource that parents/carers can access in support of those conversations.
