NETBALL SCHOOL STATE CUP

What an incredible experience we had at the Netball State Cup at Netball Central in Olympic Park, Sydney! Our day began bright and early with a 5:30 am start, but the excitement and determination of our Year 7/8 boys’ and girls’ teams were evident from the outset.

YEAR 7/8 GIRLS TEAM

The girls’ team faced a challenging pool with some extremely talented opponents. Our opening game was a nail-biter but unfortunately ended in a narrow loss. This would be the only game we lost all day, as the team bounced back with a strong win in their second match and an intense 17-17 draw in their final game. Despite these efforts, we narrowly missed the semi-finals. However, the girls displayed impressive patches of play, showing outstanding teamwork and unwavering commitment to each other and will definitely be a team to watch in the future

YEAR 7/8 BOYS TEAM - STATE RUNNERS UP

The boys’ team had a rocky start in their first match, trailing at half-time. With a few tactical tweaks from Mr. Gray, the boys turned the game around to secure a win. They carried this momentum into their next two games, both of which they won, earning a spot in the semi-finals. The semi-final was an absolute thriller, going into two periods of extra time. In a nail-biting finish, “Johnnies” came out victorious and advanced to the grand final against the highly skilled team from Hunter Sports High School.

The grand final was tough, and while the boys gave it everything they had, they fell just short, finishing as runners-up in the state—a phenomenal accomplishment!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Gray for his dedication in coaching and training the boys’ team throughout the year, and to Mrs. Jennings for her support of the girls’ team. A big thank you also goes to Sam McLaughlin from Year 11 for coaching the girls and to our umpires, Natarsha Mandavy and Ella Mansfield, for their excellent work. Special thanks to Archie, Amelia, and Cody for their photography and scoring on the day, as well as to all the parents and families who came to support and cheer for us.
