YEAR 8 NEWS

Jennings_Kate.jpg

As we approach the end of another school year, we reflect on the incredible journey Year 8 students have taken in 2024. It has been a year filled with growth, success, and memorable experiences.

A particular highlight was MPower Me Day and the Reflection Days, which provided students with opportunities to deepen their self-awareness, strengthen friendships, and embody our school motto, "Let your light shine."

Our students have also excelled beyond the classroom. From outstanding achievements in the creative arts to representing the school in debating and sports, Year 8 have demonstrated their talents, resilience, and commitment. We are so proud of their accomplishments!

Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited about the Year 9 camp, which will take place at Cataract Activity Centre, Appin, during Term 1, Week 10. The camp promises to be an exciting experience, filled with challenges and opportunities for personal growth. Year 9 will also bring new elective classes, the Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) program, further leadership opportunities, and plenty of exciting new opportunities for our students.

On behalf of the Year 8 pastoral team, we wish all students and their families a happy and safe summer holiday. May your Christmas be filled with joy and peace. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2025, ready for another fantastic year of learning and growth!

YEAR 8 AQUATICS UNIT

Year 8 girls and boys have both been thoroughly enjoying their participation in the aquatics unit this term. The students have been learning essential water safety skills, including safe water entries and survival techniques like floating. They've also had a blast with a fun handstand competition! It's been a great time for everyone, and the students have represented St. John's wonderfully while out in the community.

'Let your light shine. '
