PROJECT COMPASSION DIOCESAN LAUNCH
On Wednesday 4 March this year’s Diocesan Project Compassion launch was held at St Francis of Assisi’s Primary School, Warrawong. Representatives from each school in the Wollongong Diocese were in attendance.
The launch began with a liturgy inside the Church. A homily was then shared by Bishop Brian Mascord reflecting on the things in our lives that we must change in order to make us better people individually and collectively as a society. Bishop Brian then reinforced the need to keep prayer, almsgiving and fasting at the forefront of actions during this time of preparation during Lent.
Emma Larsen from CARITAS Australia spoke of the generosity of the funds raised through Project Compassion and the lasting impact that the goodwill of schools, parishes and organisations had on vulnerable communities, empowering them to build better futures. Emma reinforced that she had witnessed this first hand through her experience of seeing what was being done in Samoa to improve education through clean, reliable water access.
Thank you to Year 8 students, Dakota Roles and Luke Crossley for representing our school so enthusiastically on the day.
