ST JOHN'S NOW ON INSTAGRAM
St John's have recently launched our new social media account on instagram to display various images of our students, found at stjohns_nowra.
This platform adds to our Facebook page 'St John The Evangelist Catholic High School, Nowra' which we continue to update to celebrate learning and success!
IMPORTANT SKOOLBAG APP UPDATE
The SkoolBag App is the most reliable way to stay up to date with school life. A new version of the Skoolbag App was released during 2018, with both the new and original versions being available.
PLEASE NOTE, THE ORIGINAL SKOOLBAG APP WILL BE REMOVED ON 1 AUGUST, 2019.
To ensure you continue to receive important notifications, please click here to download the latest version of Skoolbag.
The app is frequently updated with bug fixes and improvements, so we recommend enabling automatic updates. Be sure to allow notifications and subscribe to content groups.

HALF YEARLY SCHOOL REPORTS
We wish to advise students’ half yearly school reports have been uploaded to the school portal and available for viewing. The portal may be accessed by clicking here or selecting from our website www.sjedow.catholic.edu.au. Please contact our office if you require access to the portal.
PROCEDURE FOR EARLY LEAVERS
If a student is leaving early they must present a signed permission note to the front office prior to Morning PALS and parents must sign students out from the office. Notes are NOT to be submitted to their PALS teachers. If you need to collect your child prior to the end of the school day due to an emergency, please call 4423 1666 to advise us of the pick up time. This will enable us to have your child meet you at the front office at the correct time.
NOTICE REGARDING THE USE OF CAMERA SURVEILLANCE ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
For the safety of our students, staff and visitors, St John the Evangelist Catholic High School, Nowra will be utilising camera surveillance equipment for security purposes as of Friday 16 August 2019.
In our school, CCTV cameras will be located in areas such as:
- school entrances
- corridors
- locker areas
- computer labs
- ovals
- playgrounds
CCTV cameras are NOT:
- hidden or covert
- located in private areas such as toilets, changing rooms or staff rooms
- used to monitor the quality of teaching
A number of notices will be displayed to alert people of the presence of CCTV cameras.
Please be assured that CCTV footage will only be accessed if required in the case of criminal behavior, inappropriate behaviour (ie vandalism or if disciplinary action is needed), to verify incidents where a person has sustained injury, loss or damage on school purposes or to provide the Principal with visual coverage during emergencies. CCTV footage is kept for no more than 31 days, unless required for the abovementioned purposes.
Footage is only accessed for the purposes set out above and only by the following people:
- the Principal or nominee, including people explicitly authorised by the Principal (eg. Members of the school’s IT department, executive staff members);
- Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong staff, when required to assist the school for an abovementioned purpose; and
- any other people permitted by law.
When necessary to do either (a) or (b), the Principal may show specific footage of an incident to those involved, including relevant staff, students and/or their parents. This means that any person on school premises may be captured on CCTV footage of an incident. The Principal cannot give copies of CCTV footage to staff, students or parents.
Please note that these measures have been implemented in accordance with the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 and the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005.
APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR REGIONAL YOUTH TASKFORCE
Eighteen children and young people aged between 12-24 years from across the State will be selected for the Minister for Regional Youth’s NSW Regional Youth Taskforce. Applications are particularly sought from children and young people from diverse backgrounds, life experiences and from different locations around the State.
The Regional Youth Taskforce provides an avenue of communication between the children and young people of NSW and the NSW Government with the taskforce providing input on ways the NSW Government can improve outcomes for regional youth.
