We would like to take this time to congratulate every student on the way in which they represented not only themselves but also the St Johns community as a whole, we are very proud of you all.
We would also like to express our sincerest appreciation and thanks to the following businesses in their support of our students, without their generosity our students would not have had such an amazing experience - Delahenty Building, Landscapists, CLN Landscapes, T&L Cornell Builders, Klassen Plumbing, PowerCountry, A&P Plastering, Adrian Robertson Constructions and Jaime Shaw Building.
St Johns has a new vocational course this year. The Business Services class has set up their office at the bottom of the library. The Office @ Johnnies also known as The OJ supports students in obtaining a Certificate III in Business which gives learners all the skills required to work in an office environment.
In Week 8 we visited NowChem where the Head of People and Culture Melissa Cox spoke to the class about career opportunities, administration roles, the work performed by staff such as reception, accounts receivable and accounts payable. We also had a tour of the facilities
A major component of our learning this term is Work health and Safety, Melissa talked to us about requirements, accident forms, preventing injury such as purchasing lifting equipment. We have put some of this learning into action, forming our own office WHS committee and holding WHS meetings.
A big thank you to NowChem, Ms Blades and Ms Arenas
