CONCLAVE
Following the passing of Pope Francis during the Easter holidays, students in Years 7-10 undertook during Week 1 an investigation into the Conclave. This significant event for the Catholic Church began on May 7 within the Sistine Chapel. Students study of the Conclave investigated:
- Who participates in the Conclave
- Where the Conclave is held
- The Conclave voting process
- The use of black or white smoke to communicate to the outside world if a Pope has or has not been elected
- The only Australian Cardinal involved in the Conclave

SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Religious Education students in Years 7-10 are currently exploring their second topic for the year. An integral aspect of their learning for Topic 2 will be skill development in two areas - a specific Religious Education skill chosen for each individual class, and a NESA verb for written responses.
Some of the specific RE skills being developed are:
- Integrating Bible quotes into written responses
- Relating Bible stories to everyday life
- Discerning the difference between Scripture based teachings and Tradition based teachings
- Use of topic terminology
The NESA verb focus for each year group is:
Year 7 - Outline
Year 8 - Describe
Year 9 - Explain
Year 10 - Analyse
CHAPEL
The school Chapel will be open to students during lunch 1 every Wednesday for the remainder of the year. Students may visit the Chapel for some quiet reflection time, for personal prayer, for time to undertake meditation or to light a candle for a specific prayer intention.
