YEAR 10 NEWS

Isemonger_Wendy.jpg

Every fortnight, students take part in a pastoral lesson under the guidance of their PALS teachers. These lessons are designed to highlight key focus areas that support the wellbeing of the year group. Last week’s pastoral lesson focused on two main areas. The first was reflecting on our SRC goal: 'Be the best year group we can be.' Each PALS group brainstormed what this goal would look like, sound like, feel like, and be like. Their ideas were then transformed into word clouds to visually represent the discussions.

These word clouds were then combined into a single year group word cloud, reflecting the collective input of the entire cohort.

As you can see from the keywords in each of these word clouds, the year group has some great ideas and positive plans for how we can work together to achieve the SRC goal of being “the best year group we can be”!

The second theme (but also linked to being the best year group we can be) was the theme of “giving back” and how we can live our values in our year group: “Give us strength to show compassion and help us flourish in all that we do” ; and school prayer: “For it is in giving...that we receive”. Students watched videos featuring peers involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. These videos highlighted the benefits of giving back and the rewards gained from contributing to the school community. Each student in the year group has received a 'passport' to document the different ways they are “giving back” to the community.

The passport aims to:

  • Empower students to make intentional and meaningful decisions about how they can contribute to the life of the school community.
  • Provide a clear and consistent system for students to track and reflect on the ways they have offered their time, skills, and support throughout the year.
  • Support the recognition of student leadership and service by informing decisions around leadership opportunities and year group awards.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Students should now have everything in place for the commencement of work experience in Week 10. It is expected that all students attend their placement. Work experience offers valuable opportunities to develop practical skills, gain insight into potential career paths, and build confidence in a professional environment.

SUBJECT SELECTION INFORMATION NIGHT

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the Year 11 2026 Information Evening on Thursday, June 5th. Your presence ensured you were well informed about the subject selection process and helped position you to support your child in making important decisions for Years 11 and 12. It was a pleasure to welcome you on the night, and I look forward to continuing to support your child as they move through their senior years of schooling.

"Strong minds & gracious hearts."

Ms Wendy Isemonger
