2025 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CUP

On Thursday 19 June the DV Cup was held at Bomaderry Sports Complex.
This is the first year that St Johns have been a part of this great community event. The domestic violence cup brings local high schools together through the love of sport to highlight awareness, educate and encourage people to take a stand against domestic and family violence.
We had a very successful day both on and off the field.
On the field St Johns represented in some very strong and competitive rounds of games demonstrating great team work and talent. Both the boys 16's Tackle and Girls 16's tag teams made it through to the finals, the boys coming in runners up and the girls taking out the grand final trophy for the day.
A number of students were recognised for skill during each of the games being named player of the match in the round games: Allira Hepburn, Zahli Schellnegger, Marshall Avery, Luke Keating and Harry Carr.
Allira Hepburn was also named 'Most Valuable Player' in the grand final, receiving the match ball for her efforts.
We had 6 students selected to represent at the Merit event in August at WIN stadium to further build skills in league with Dragons player representatives and knowledge on the topic of Domestic violence: Codi Weber, Lexie Burinaga, Zahli Schellnegger, Marshall Avery, Connor O'Keefe and Harry Carr.
Off the field all students engaged in the community stakeholders stalls and talks by local Police and support workers in the Nowra region. This was the driving force and purpose of the day to build connections between these local services and our youth. A credit to the organisers of the day and the local services for their tireless efforts for our future. We look forward to continuing to build our connections next year.

DV CUP JERSEY PRESENTATION

2025 SAM BREMNER SHIELD SHOALHAVEN BRANCH WINNERS -U14 GIRL'S RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM

On Thursday, June 26th, the U14 Girls Rugby League team proudly represented St John's at the Shoalhaven branch of the 2025 Sam Bremner Shield. The girls displayed outstanding teamwork and skill across all matches, going undefeated on the day.
St John's opened the tournament with a commanding 26-0 victory over Vincentia High School. They followed this with a thrilling 4-0 win against Kiama High School and their final game saw them overpower Nowra High School with an impressive 18-4 result.
The team stuck to a simple yet highly effective structure, playing with clear intent on every play. This allowed their athleticism and natural talent to shine through, with spectacular tries scored in attack and relentless effort shown in defence.
A special mention goes to Annalise Schilko, who was deservedly voted Players' Player of the tournament. Annalise led the defensive line with unmatched intensity and was equally damaging with the ball in hand.
Thanks to their efforts, the team now advances to the Southern NSW Semi-Finals, to be held at Paramore Park, Wagga Wagga on Wednesday, July 30th (Week 2, Term 3).
A huge thank you to Allira Hepburn and Ruby Roberts (Year 9), who served as team trainers for the day; running messages and water to the players throughout each match. We also extend our gratitude to Mrs Clarke, who gave up her day off to travel and support the team.
Congratulations to all involved on a fantastic performance, bring on the Semi-Finals!

2025 DIOCESAN NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS - SENIOR GIRL'S WINNERS

On Friday 13th June, the St Johns Senior Girl's Netball team travelled to Wollongong to compete in the CCC gala day.

The girls had 2 tough games to start the day. Game 1 saw them rise victorious against a strong John Terry team finishing with a 17-11 score. Game 2 was against the formidable school of St Mary's. Both teams put on a clinical defensive display. The game finished with a 12 all draw. The girls then put on dominant performances to defeat Corpus, St Josephs and St Francis with ease.

The girls progressed to the semi final where they came up against Magdalene Catholic College, coming away with a convincing 19-10 win. The grand final was against the St Marys team for a second crack at the win. Our girls played with great composure in attack with Amelia Mansfield and Tori Martin to secure our gains to goals. Defensively Sam McLaughlin, Natarsha Mandavy and Madi Butler restricted their shooters to only 8 goals.

St Johns Coming away with a 12-8 Win in the grand final and becoming the CCC Netball Champions for 2025!
