ASTRONOMY, REPTILES, ROBOTICS AND MORE AT FAMILY SCIENCE DAY ON UOW SHOALHAVEN CAMPUS

The University of Wollongong’s Shoalhaven campus will transform into a hub of scientific wonder on Saturday 16 August as it hosts the 2025 Science Showcase — a highlight of National Science Week celebrations.

This free, family-friendly event will run from 10am to 3pm, featuring exciting hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and interactive displays for all ages.

Get ready for a day filled with interactive exhibits and hands-on learning.

Event Highlights Include:

• See UOW Motorsport’s latest Formula-style electric vehicle up close
• Launch a water-powered rocket and learn the science behind it
• Meet the Shoalhaven Astronomers and explore the cosmos through lectures and on-site observatory tours
• Experience the Best of the Science Space show – a thrilling live science demonstration from UOW Science Space
• Battle in LEGO Robotics challenges with Project Bucephalus
• Get close to snakes, lizards, turtles and a lace monitor at the Dragon Training Mobile Zoo
• Hold real anatomy models of human organs and bones
• Monitor your muscles in motion with live ultrasound demonstrations
• Test dummy patients and see how simulations are used in medicine and nursing
• Experience sensory anatomical models designed for low/no vision users

Whether you're a curious child, a science enthusiast, or just looking for a fun and educational day out, the Science Showcase promises an exciting and inspiring experience.

Shoalhaven Basketball Association are excited to be running their Aussie Hoops Program and U10’s competition again this term, and would love to have your child join the basketball action! Designed for ages 5-10, these programs are the perfect introduction to basketball. Please see the below session details:

Directly following Aussie Hoops on Thursdays, we run a FREE Under 10’s competition for all registered Aussie Hoopers. It’s a great chance for kids to apply their skills in a game setting while having fun with friends.
