YEAR 9 NEWS

Year 9 has enjoyed a vibrant and eventful term so far, brimming with a wide range of learning opportunities both inside the classroom and out. From thought-provoking lessons to eye-opening excursions, students have embraced experiences that have sparked curiosity, growth, and inspiration. Below, you'll find reflections capturing highlights from these moments so far this term!
It is an absolute joy to serve as the Acting Year 9 Leader of Wellbeing. Year 9 is a truly remarkable cohort—full of enthusiastic, thoughtful young people whom I feel privileged to support and advocate for.
I’m pleased to share some personal news: I’m expecting a baby and will be commencing maternity leave from Week 4 of Term 4. If all goes to plan (and the baby sticks to the schedule!), I look forward to continuing in this role for the next six weeks.
This term, Year 9 students have shown impressive dedication to their learning. Their focused mindset and genuine drive to achieve their personal best has been wonderful to see.
BUSHCRAFT OVERNIGHT WALK - YALWAL
Our Year 9 Bushcraft 1 class have recently completed their overnight walk, held at Yalwal. We were blessed with perfect weather, incredible views and a spectacular range of spring flowers. It was a pleasure taking this group to such a special part of our local bushland, and the students demonstrated how capable they are both as individuals and as a group.

INDO SPORTS
Have you heard of Indonesian cow racing? How about a game of 'who can jump over the tallest rock'??? What about that Indonesian boy dancing in front of the boat? Well, our year 9 Indonesian students have been learning about all of this and more! During our topic on Indonesian lifestyle, Indo learners took on the bold task of combining their love of popular Australian sports, with their newly discovered Indonesian sports! The task has been a whirl of fun and learning, with students working together to create fun new ways of learning language while playing sport!
We can't wait to adopt some of these games into our learning tasks during the course! Thank you so much year 9, you're an awesome group of kids and are supreme Indonesian language learners!!!

We appreciate your ongoing support in helping us maintain high standards for uniform, presentation and pride in our school.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (SRC)
This term, our SRC members are continuing to step up and embrace active leadership within Year 9! They are continuing to lead the Year meetings on Tuesdays and collaborating to plan Year 9 initiatives, such as the Year 9 House Cup that is continuing this semester. SRC Students should now be on the Year 9 SRC Google Classroom page and have access to the Year Meeting roster, to see when their house group will be leading the year meeting. Keep up the good work SRC! We can’t wait to see the positive influence their leadership inspires across the Year Group!
On behalf of Year 9, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the dedicated teachers who have thoughtfully crafted such enriching and memorable learning experiences for our students. Your passion and commitment have made a lasting impact.
I also want to acknowledge and celebrate our Year 9 students for their enthusiastic participation and positive attitude. Their willingness to engage fully, take initiative, and embrace every opportunity offered at St John’s is a testament to their growth and character.
