Lawn Bowls provides a very different direction for families to enjoy sport. For a very long time this sport has been seen as a sport for older people This has changed it is rapidly becoming a sport for younger players: as seen in the level of competition all the way to the U15 & U18 State and National Championships held recently. Also the current world indoor singles champion is a 19 year old from Cabramatta..
Lawn Bowls is a sport for all ability and disability levels. Indicative of this at Worrigee our star junior is 13 years old with a disability. After 8 months he competes regularly to a very high standard within both the club and region. This is special because he has cystic fibrosis and is blind in one eye: he has worked with me to modify any 'normal' bowling practices and plays successfully with a highly modified style.
As a teacher of many years (semi-retired, but still working casually around the Shoalhaven), I have always had a strong sports focus and see lawn bowls  as  a great sports alternative
