ASSORTED NEWS
From Thursday 2nd October till Saturday 11th October, Madi Cleal (Corpus Christi) & I had the privilege of accompanying 14 Year 11 students from Corpus Christi and SJE to the Top End of Aus on a Catholic Mission Immersion.
Our home base was in Darwin, but we ventured south to Litchfield National Park, east to Kakadu National Park, and north to the Tiwi Islands.
During these 10 days, students had the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in the culture, community and faith of the Northern Territory and Aboriginal communities. This included going to national parks, trying bush tucker, exploring different Aboriginal art forms, going to a local community Mass, participating in cultural modules at Nungalinya College, and much more. We were very grateful to have the support from local elders, priests, educators, and other community members to make our trip so insightful, meaningful and impactful.
Thank you to Val West and Taleah Reid in Year 10 (Corpus Christi), who designed and painted an incredible artwork that we could proudly display while wearing our polo shirts. The polos depict the dreaming story of Yuin (black cockatoo) and Dharawal (whale) country, to represent our communities and culture.
A BIG thank you to Jack Lopez (SJE) and Brett Herron (Corpus Christi), who gave up time in their holidays to drive the school bus to and from the airport. We owe you!!
Please ask the students about the trip, they will be very proud and excited to share their stories!
