LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT
The French Food Day is coming very soon, to be held in Week 9 on Thursday 19 September, with wonderful French inspired food available to order. Order forms will be distributed to PALS groups and need to be returned by the beginning of Week 8.
Year 9 is not only preparing for the French Food Day, they are also preparing for a French Feast where the classroom turns into a French restaurant. Students act out restaurant scenes in French where they savour their prepared French dishes. This term is a very big one for Year 9 French.
Many Year 8 French students produced exceptional house plans (‘la maison de mes rêves’) across the three classes. Three students in each of the three classes will be awarded with a première, deuxième and troisième place and then one student will be awarded with the grand prix over the three classes. This term will also see students producing photo albums, describing their families in detail in French. Students love to include their animals with beautiful photos. These albums will be treasures to keep for the future.
Year 10 French are currently expanding their knowledge of different tenses in French, including the imparfait (imperfect), conditionnel and plus-que-parfait (pluperfect). They each have a verb booklet which, by the end of next term, will be filled with all the tenses for many verbs. This will be an excellent resource for them in the future.
FAREWELL TO OUR EXCHANGE STUDENT
Many thanks to Year 10 student Christie Warren and her family for recently hosting a French exchange student, Hortense Niger, who has been staying with Christie's family since 22 July, 2019, returning to her home this week. It has been a pleasure to have Hortense with our school, assisting our students to understand the French language and culture.
A la prochaine et bonnes vacances!
