YEAR 11 NEWS
Since the last newsletter report - Year 11 have completed their Preliminary year and have begun their HSC journey. To help with this transition, students attended the Year 12 Retreat at Waterslea where students were given time to reflect and connect with one another.
Some of the feedback received from students about the retreat include:
“Thankyou for the wonderfully enlightening retreat experience”;
“Being able to connect with others and coming to the understanding that everyone has different stories and difficulties”;
“I gained a different view on my spirituality”;
“I enjoyed relaxing and taking time away from school”;
“I have experienced a lot and will take a lot out of it, a very beneficial experience”
PRESENTATION AND INFORMATION EVENING
Thankyou to the parents who attended last week’s presentation and HSC information evening. It was wonderful to have your support and helped in making the evening a special one for Year 11. At the presentation, we recognised and celebrated the achievements of students who have achieved academically, the quiet achievers; the athletes and those students who have involved themselves in extracurricular activities. Below is a list of the recipients:
During the evening, the work of Ms Sarah Blades in supporting the Year group over the last 3 years was also acknowledged. She has guided and moulded these students into a cohesive, well rounded and respectful year group. She has given time and energy into ensuring students were supported and their well being valued and maintained. Ms Blades is moving into the role of HSIE coordinator.

Thankyou to Mrs Lisa Murphy, our Curriculum Coordinator, who shared with parents and students important information about the expectations and responsibilities of students during the HSC year. This included a reminder to parents about the new rules regarding assessments in the HSC year - a student who is not present for an assessment or does not hand in an assessment task will receive a zero mark, unless a doctors certificate is supplied. This includes family holidays which are not considered to be a legitimate reason.
Applications for special provisions for the HSC are being processed now. Detailed documentation is required for students applying for special provisions, it is important that this is actioned now, please check your emails or contact me at school if you have any questions.
I encourage students to continue to work hard in the lead up to Christmas. Unlike previous years where things begin to wind down, this year will be different in that students will have to work consistently up until the last day. I wish students well in their studies and thank parents for their support.
Mrs. Wendy Isemonger
