SJE STAFF ACKNOWLEDGED WITH DIOCESAN AWARDS

On Friday 22 November the Lighting the Way Faith and Learning Recognition awards for staff of the Catholic Education Office were held.

These awards recognised a number of staff for their Length of service in Catholic education. Two staff were also acknowledged for their contribution and commitment including;

Mrs Kylie Chapman was nominated for the ‘School Support Officer Award’ for the work she has done over such a long period in providing support measures for students in Learning Support and Special Support. She is also the parent representative on the Diocesan Schools Council. Kylie manages the allocation of support staff and ensures that all areas are covered with the appropriate support. This includes the placement of support staff and management of special provisions for students needed specialist support for assessment tasks. Kylie supports students who access the Focus Zone for time out and ensures that the appropriate supports are in place. Her outstanding skills are delivered in a kind and caring manner that enables students to engage positively with this support.

Kylie was a worthy recipient of this award and was acknowledged as exemplary in her work.

Miss Savannah Lloyd was nominated for the ‘Early Career Teacher Award’. Savannah is a competent HSIE teacher who works to ensure that the students in her class achieve their potential. She is reflective in her practice and actively seeks to improve her teaching through engaging in professional development.

Savannah has worked tirelessly to provide students with the opportunity to engage in dance and develop and showcase their skills. She has given her time generously to conduct dance training before school, during lunch and after school. She has also provided training during school holidays. Students have engaged in liturgical dance and many competitions including the Wakakirri in which they were the successful winners of the Shoalhaven in 2019. Savannah was also selected as the Australian dance teacher of the year.

Savannah was the Diocesan recipient of this award.
