YEAR 9 NEWS

Welcome back for 2020! We have a busy year ahead and students have started the year in a positive way. Year 9 sees lots of changes with subjects and classes. While there has been some minor teething problems with these changes there is a good vibe across the year group as they start their elective courses in a range of subject areas.

There have been a few issues regarding uniform across the Year 9 group needing to be addressed. The problem areas are mainly around girls’ skirt length, jewellery and piercings as well as students not wearing plain white socks. All students must wear plain white socks if they do not yet have the SJE socks, this means any student wearing socks with logos or stripes will receive consequences as per school guidelines. The uniform expectations and requirements are clearly outlined in the student diary.

Congratulations to Bradley Church, selected in the Under 15's Illawarra Rugby Union representative side and will compete in the NSW Country Championships in Armidale during May and the NSW State Championships in Concord during June. We wish Bradley luck in these competitions.

Year 9 will be working hard to develop their involvement in the community through volunteering and community service.

bee.jpgI encourage students and their families to attend the Working Bee tomorrow Saturday 22 February as an opportunity to start their positive community involvement.

I would like to welcome the following teachers to the Year 9 team and look forward to working with them: Mr Kyriacou, Mr Jakymszyn, Ms Semmens, Mrs Prayetno and Mr Higgins.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and continuing to work with the students in Year 9 as they grow both in their education endeavours and personally as young adults.
