NEWS FROM GOOROON
NATIONAL SORRY DAY
26 May marks the very special event of 'National Sorry Day' being the anniversary of the the landmark 'Bringing them Home' report tabled in federal parliament, a National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families.
On 26 May 1998, the first National Sorry Day was held to commemorate the anniversary of the report and remember the grief, suffering and injustice experienced by the stolen generations.
Our school understands the significance of this day, recognising the event in our Week 6 assembly and morning prayer. Click here to listen to Year 11 students Kayla Rayes and Holly Habergham deliver the Morning Prayer on National Sorry Day.
