NEWS FROM TAS
In 2021 the TAS Department has yet again been inundated with students showing willingness to learn and explore new concepts and develop new skills.

TAS offers extracurricular activities for students to engage in such as Miss Hall’s TED Group focusing on design, held on Fridays.

Also Mr Malady’s VEX Robotics club where students are given a brief to challenge themselves against other schools.

The Ag Farm is also open two lunchtimes a week where students can engage in Farm activities.

We have been fortunate enough to have seen a new laser cutter purchased which is being used across a range of subjects enhancing and giving students further design possibilities.
Along with this, I Block received a refurbishment during the Easter Holidays. This has seen the opening up of classrooms, larger storage for projects and new flooring, transforming the area into a collaborative learning space, a modern and vibrant environment incorporating industry standard technology.

Year 9 Industrial Technology has two classes making a drinks tray and incorporating the laser cutter personalising their project with a design. We have moved away from a specific timber project in Technology Mandatory in Year 7 and 8 so the 9 Industrial Technology classes are learning a lot of new skills and techniques.

Year 11 Design and Technology are producing some minor projects in their preliminary course. They have experimented with the new laser cutter in designing jewellery and had a design brief of creating a lamp with a specific purpose.

Year 11 Industrial Technology are making a wall cabinet developing their skills.
